Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and Chinese black tea. Full body with round and chewy tannins. A bit tight and lean but I like the focus and intensity for the vintage. Drink now.
The 2014 Valdisanti is a rich and generous expression. The base of the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), but Sangiovese (20%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) both play important supporting roles adding acidity and structure respectively. The wine wraps thickly over the palate with dense textual richness and generous flavors of blackberry, spice and cured tobacco. There is a pretty note of sweetness on the close that resembles candied fruit or cherry liqueur. Some 106,000 bottles were produced in this vintage.
