The season proved pretty good for red wines in Heathcote, and this 2024 vintage is loaded to the gunwales with dark, ripe black fruits. Blackcurrant, olive tapenade, and ironstone aromatics greet initially, then roll through to a generous, rich, and concentrated palate. That slightly ferruginous character emerges from the dark swirl of powerful fruits and a decent lick of oak.

100% Cabernet sauvignon from Colbinabbin Estate in Heathcote. It’s a lovely wine that announces itself well with a beautiful nose of black fruits (blackberry, mulberry and black cherry), a touch of smoke and some dark choc. The palate is silky, concentrated and flavourful, with teeth-coating juice and chewy tannins. It also needs quite a bit of air to show its best but it’s worth the wait, and if you can wait any longer to open subsequent bottles, they should go for at least another 5-8 year.
