Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru 2014
2014 is a seductive vintage, quite similar to 2012 and 2010. In Côte de Beaune the wines offer a nice tension. The nuances of the terroirs are enhanced.
"The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche was picked between September 16 and 19, and is whole cluster fruit, spending 14 months in oak barrels. It has a very seductive bouquet with a hint of licorice in the background, detailed and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is very well defined, harmonious on the entry with bitter lemon and orange zest. There is compelling energy here -- this Chassagne just flows across the mouth and the finish is so vivid. By far and away, this is the best Chassagne-Morgeot that I have tasted from Marquis de Laguiche/Drouhin." - Robert Parker
"This is a wonderful occasion to savour a great wine.Admirable light golden colour. Intense and elegant aromas come to the fore : hawthorn, apricot notes, evolving towards hints of blond tobacco. As the wine ages, there are nuances of dried fruit and rare spices. A silky texture and a subtle touch of tannin give a true personality to the wine. Remarkable aftertaste. A great white Burgundy!" - Véronique Boss-Drouhin
