Terrazas de los Andes can trace its beginnings back to the 1950s, when the famous French Champagne house, Moet & Chandon realized there was an enormous potential for growth in South America. In 1960, they established Chandon Argentina in the now well-known region of Mendoza, their first subsidiary outside of France. For years, they kept to making only sparkling and generic still wines and it wasn't until the 1990s when the project of Terrazas began.
This Reserva Chardonnay is sourced from high-altitude estate vineyard Finca Caicayen (1250m/4100 feet), in Uco Valley and the winemakers harvest early for fresh acidity. They use less new oak for maturation, resulting in a fresh and vibrant Chardonnay reminiscent of Burgundy.
