The heart and soul of the Châteauneuf du Pape terroir is revealed here in its purest expression by Edouard Guerin. Intense ruby robe with beautiful reflections of old rose petals. Frank and spicy with black pepper and licorice, surprising floral notes of grass and acacia, evolving onto more classic notes of strawberry, cherry and fresh blackcurrant, and subtle notes of camphor and menthol. The attack is frank and ample, reflecting the gourmand and delicate characteristics of the estate and magnificently held by fine tannins with a silky length, strengthened by the freshness of the menthol and scents of the garriques.

This great Chateauneuf manages to square the circle of dark aromas like tar and dry earth with freshness that’s rare for this hot and dry vintage. It’s juicy and elegant but also subtle, with a very fine texture. A long, velvety finish with a delicacy that pulls you back for more. A cuvee based on old-vine Grenache. Drink or hold.
