Château Montus is produced in the Madiran appellation. Aged 30 years on average, the vineyard benefits from steep slopes with round pebbles and subsoils of brown and orange clay. The wine is aged in barrels for 12 to 14 months depending on the year. The 2016 vintage blends 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Complex, layered, and savoury, the Chateau Montus 2016 develops harmonious aromas of red fruits, along with subtle peppery notes and a woody vanilla. Not a tannic powerhouse, this is nicely balanced with fine tannins that are just starting to resolve. The wine shows a beautiful maturity and roundness on the palate.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast

The spectacular hillside vineyard of Montus, overlooking the Adour Valley, is producing some of the finest Madiran. This 80% Tannat wine reveals the quality and intensity of the grape. It is still full of tannins, but the fruit really shines. Give this wine time and drink from 2023.
