Wynn's say it's Australia's most important Cabernet based on volume and value of each vintage. It's a model for the flavour and structure of cool grown Cabernet with the ace in the hole cards of blackcurrant fruit, firm tannins and balanced oak.
96 Points - Natalie MacLean
Wynns has been making wine at Coonawarra since 1897, and the Black Label Cabernet, first produced in 1954, is one of Australia's most historic and consistent wine labels, expressing the famous terra rossa over limestone that gives Coonawarra Cabernet its distinctive dark richness and cool-climate freshness. Concentrated and aromatic on the nose with dark blackcurrant, crushed violet, warm baking spice, and dried herb, it opens to a deep, structured palate of boysenberry, iron-tinged earth, and toasted cedar with a long firm finish and seamlessly integrated tannins. Cellar it through 2043.
