This single-cask Bruichladdich belongs to the ‘Mythical Beasts’ series from Spiritfilled. It’s been aged for thirty years, and limited to just 212 cask-strength bottles.   ABV = 53.3%      The bottle bears the image of the Qilin, which is a dragon-like hooved beast found in Chinese mythology.

Nose: Focussed with hints of espresso, dark chocolate truffles and caramel. Then toasted notes with linseed and extra virgin olive oil.

Palate: Delicate texture, lightly creamy vanilla broadens into panna cotta, chocolate truffles and espresso. Then crisp toasted notes usher in malty, digestive biscuits and linseed. A finale of orange marmalade on buttery, well-done toast.

Finish: Juicy fruit and balancing dryness, with a medley of figs, light oak, toasted notes, espresso, raisins and chocolate truffles.
