This vintage holds a special significance, as it is the first vinified in Chateau Haut-Bailly's wonderful new winery. The Haut Bailly 2021 is a splendid wine, simultaneously imposing and discreet. Its density comes from the additional Petit Verdot, picking up some of the slack from the lighter Merlot. Gabriel Vialard describes this as “chic” – modern and stylish. Tobacco, lemongrass and liquorice are all in evidence; the finish is graceful and harmonious.

This is a very aromatic, precise wine. Ripe fruits and density are balanced by the wine's freshness and acidity. It has structure that brings out creamy tannins to balance the succulent black fruit flavors.
