Mazzei Zisola Doppiozetta IGT
Soft fruit notes red and ripe black berries accompanied by a persuasive note of wood (the wine spends 10 months in new oak barrels)
It’s the most important wine of the estate, made with a selection of indigenous Nero d'Avola, rigorously bush trained, on two single estate parcels; it shows a different and personal style. A "super" Nero d'Avola, where the name "Doppiozeta" highlights the "core" of the Mazzei name.
Earthy aromas of leather, truffle, game and ripe black-skinned fruit lead the way on the nose of this smooth, savory red. The structured palate offers juicy black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon and ground white pepper alongside soft, silky tannins. A smoky note bolsters the finish. Drink through 2019.
