Chateau Puy-Blanquet 2017

Pretty, with red currant and plum fruit bouncing along, backed by enticing floral and spice notes. Stays fresh on the finish, with a light mineral accent. Lot of pretty charm. 91 Points - Wine Spectator

WINE PROFILE

Other Notes

Chateau Puy Blanquet is owned by the Jacquet family. The wine making, vineyard management and sales are all managed by Ets. Moueix. The 20 hectare, Right Bank vineyard of Chateau Puy Blanquet is planted to 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are on average, 25 years of age. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 5,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard has a terroir of clay and limestone soils.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Puy-Blanquet is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It has plenty of lush red cherry and cranberry fruit on the nose, a smear of vanilla from the new oak that will be subsumed by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin. Yes, there is a bit of hardness here, but that will soften, and there is plenty of freshness on the grainy finish. 90 Points - Wine Advocate
