Chateau LaTour Martillac Blanc 2016

The Latour-Martillac 2016 Blanc was missing some complexity on the nose, especially after such brilliant examples produced in the previous two vintages. The palate is well balanced with orange rind and mandarin notes, though to be honest it is missing some tension on the finish and it does not draw you back for another sip.

Ratings
While this wine is crisp, it is also full of ripe apricot and spice tones as well as pink grapefruit and intense acidity. The balance is great, setting the wine up for some excellent aging. Barrel Sample: 93?›ƒ?ªƒ??95 Points Wine Enthusiast
Awards
Tight and lemony with lots of citrus character and phenolic texture. This is structured and very long. Linear. More like a red in texture. Serious. Barrel Sample:93-94 Points James Suckling
Other Notes
The tower, beautifully gracing the main courtyard, gave its name to the estate; it is the only trace left of a small fortified castle built in the 12th century by Montesquieu's forefathers. Edouard Kressmann showed some interest for this growth as early as 1871, when he settled in Bordeaux as a wine merchant. The oldest part of the vineyard, grafted in 1884, still displays the whole range of the white grape varieties that Edouard loved. Alfred, Edouard's eldest son, bought the estate in 1929. The present label, designed by Alfred's son, Jean with gold and black wide oblique stripes, was adopted in 1934; it was inaugurated on a 1929 bottle served in 1936 for His Majesty George VI's coronation. In 1955 Jean inherits the estate which he had managed since 1940 for his father. Tristan and Lo?Ÿ??c, two of his sons, have now taken over. With the advice of some of the best consultants in Bordeaux, they take it to heart to carry on improving the quality of those great wines, classified in red as well as in white. Alfred Kressmann Alfred Tristan and Lo?Ÿ??c, his two youngest sons, have now taken over. After a thorough renovation of the chais in 1989, Tristan (overall management) and Lo?Ÿ??c (technical management) strive to keep alive a family tradition which will always sacrifice yield for quality. With the advice of some of the best consultants in Bordeaux, they set their hearts on continuously improving the quality of those great wines, classed growth in both colours. The white wines are surprisingly delicate, complex and can be kept for quite a long time, revealing a beautiful evolution. The red wines, like all great Pessac-Leognan wines, are pure harmony, elegance and finesse.
