NEW! Maison Louis Jadot Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru 2012
95 pts Robert Parker
The Chambertin vineyard is situated on the east facing slope between Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru.
A delicate and sophisticated wine, the ’12 Chapelle-Chambertin from Louis Jadot is a towering achievement. This wine has a silky texture finishes in refined, complex notes of berries, earth and oak. This bottling shows tremendous structure, caressing tannins, and an extraordinarily long finish.
This wine is fermented in vats for 3-4 weeks and aged 18-20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2012 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru from Louis Jadot has a very perfumed and floral nose with dried violet petals infusing the mixture or red and black fruit. This gains intensity in the glass, hints of winegum developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well judged acidity, the oak beautifully interwoven. It is still very backward, more so than the say Cécile Tremblay's Chapelle-Chambertin, but there is a pleasing sense of tension and race on the long, truffle tinged finish that has just the right amount of bitterness. This could be a wine that will continue to improve, the longer it is left in bottle. Do not underestimate this exemplary Grand Cru."
"Graphite and sanguine aromas give way to cherry and raspberry flavors in this intense red. Firm, with the oak matched to the fleshy texture. A bit rustic and closed in the end now, but shows fine potential. Best from 2018 through 2030."
Gevrey Chambertin is the most northern of the great communes of the Côte de Nuits. There are 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus.
Half of the Premiers Crus of Gevrey lie on the Grands Crus east facing slope ; the other half occupy a steep, southeast facing slope to the north, with calcareous clay soils.
Louis Jadot produces a rich and sumptuous wine with an extraordinary delicacy, elegance and finesse. The silken texture finishes in refined, complex notes of berries, earth and oak.
It will perfectly match with sophisticated dishes like meat, game and strong cheeses.
