Gosset Cuvee Celebris Extra Brut 2007
Cellar Club Members Save $67.00 Off Regular Price
Made from 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, and aged for 10 years in the bottle, this has notes of green apple, brioche, pink grapefruit and bright lemon zest. The finish presents notes of smoky brioche and butter biscuits.
Gosset is one of Champagne's oldest houses, founded in 1584, and all its wines are presented in bottles shaped like those used in the 18th century.
“Good vintage years ending in a ‘7’ have been few and far between since 1947. CELEBRIS 2007 benefits from 10 years ageing in the cellar, giving the vintage a fair maturity and fine balance.”
The 2007 Extra Brut Celebris is wonderfully silky, polished and refined. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, reflecting the predominance of Chardonnay in the blend. Pink grapefruit, white pepper, brioche and crushed rocks all give the 2007 much of its translucence and weightless energy. The finish is dry, salivating and tense. In other words; classic Gosset. This is a terrific showing. The 2007 is 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir from vineyards in Avize, Chouilly, Cremant, Vertus, Aÿ and Bouzy.
