Vineyard Notes
Champy is a small family run business. The company’s principle is not to grow significantly, but being a boutique negociantto consistently producing artisanal wines with continued aim to express the nuances of the Burgundian terroirs. Founded in 1720, Champy is both the first established wine house of Burgundy and a pioneer of the Burgundy vineyard for its rational practice of organic and sustainable farming methods. Champy represents about twenty five hectares of vines on the Côte de Beaune, certificated organic since 2010 vintage and since 2014 for the vines from Clos de la Chapelle. The estate produces about 500 000 bottles per year. With the Domaine Laleure-Piot, Champy is also one of the major producers of the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation. Dimitri Bazas –Champy’swinemaker since 1999 –ensures the General Management, with Pierre Beuchet, historical owner and majority shareholder since 2012.
Production Notes
Generally the production philosophy is to control yields for the terroirs to be fully expressed, which is crucial to produce wines of character. CHAMPY’s focus for the Bourgogne and regional appellation and village level wines is to provide quality and consistency. The Premier and Grand Cru appellations are vinified to be approachable, but with the ability to last the long term. The produced wines offer a unique combination of balance, elegance, and purity of fruit
