Ratings
From 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, the wine smells great with its nutty, pineapple, vanilla and lemon custard aromatic profile. Fresh and zippy, the wine is rich, fat, sweet, and dense with the right amount of acidity to keep all that sweetness in check. Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider 96 Points
Awards
The 2015 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a slightly taciturn bouquet at first, though it soon awakens to deliver pure wild honey and subtle marmalade notes, though it maintains a sense of restraint. The palate is well balanced and very pure, a sensual Lafaurie-Peyraguey with a very harmonious, light-spiced marmalade and honeyed finish. This is stylish and understated, but I suspect it will age extremely well. Wine Advocate 95 Points
Winemaker Notes
A ripe, unctuous style, with a big core of nectarine, peach, mango and quince flavors, backed by lots of spice and ginger. Among the more backward examples at this early stage, but everything is here. Wine Spectator 96 Points
Other Notes
This 1er Cru is one of the most prestigious in the Sauternes appellation. Located in the immediate vicinity of Yquem on the heights of Bommes, the Château Lafaurie Peyraguey extends over 41 hectares of magnificent gravely soil and clay. Its vines is 90% Sémillon, Sauvignon and 8% in the rest muscadelle. Ownership of the GDF Suez group until the beginning of 2014, the estate was bought by the Swiss businessman Silvio Denz, CEO of Lalique crystalware.
