The 2019 vintage produced great wines despite weather that included heatwaves, drought, strong winds and rain. A long dry summer and perfect harvest conditions balanced out these negative factors. The long harvest gave structure and ripeness to the grapes.
For me, there is no clear winner this year as both the Right Bank and Left Bank produced highly acclaimed wines, with some boasting 100 Point scores. A few gems include Château Calon Segur, Château Lagrange, Château Malescot St. Exupery, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Pavie Maquin, and Château Lynch Moussas, marking the 100th anniversary under the Casteja family and producing one of their best vintages.
