Bourbon Apple Cider

September marks the beginning of another school year, and also unofficially marks the beginning of autumn - the temperature outside starts to dip ever so slightly, and sweaters and coats start to make their way out of closets everywhere. What better way to celebrate the start of the harvest season than with this cocktail - a bourbon apple cider?

  • 6 ounces bourbon
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 4-6 teaspoons pure maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 cup spiced apple cider
  • Apple slices for garnish
  • Ice (optional)

Directions - To Serve Warm:

  1. Fill mugs with hot water
  2. Heat cider until just simmering
  3. Remove from heat - Add lemon juice, maple syrup, and bourbon to pot, swirl
  4. Pour in to mugs and garnish with slice of apple
  5. If desired, top each glass or mug with a pinch of cayenne pepper OR cinnamon

Directions - To Serve Cold:

  1. Fill glasses and a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Add bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cider to a shaker – shake vigorously
  3. Strain in to classes and garnish with slice of apple
