Scotch Tips for Father's Day

Do you want to a great scotch for Father's Day, but you aren't sure where to start?

Scotch expert David Michiels has a few handy tips for picking out the perfect Father's Day scotch.

  1. Not sure what flavours your Dad enjoys in a scotch?

Go with a more neutral scotch like the Auchentoshan Three Wood Fancy Cask Finish ($75.99), or the Tomatin Willow Park Exclusive 20 year Single Cask ($199.99).

  2. Pick a scotch that will be good for summer - something with a short finish.

Scotch that is finished in a bourbon cask usually has a short finish and vanilla notes - try a Balvenie 12 year, Double Wood, Mixed Cask Finish ($76.99).  Scotch that is finished in a sherry cask usually has a long finish and dried fruit notes.

  3. But what about scotch from a sherry cask?

If you really want a scotch that was finished in a sherry cask, pick a scotch that wasn't finished for very long in a sherry cask - you'll get a shorter finish that way (again, better for summer.)

  4. Choose a scotch by flavour profile!

Don't shop by age, price, or region - instead, find a taste you (and Dad!) enjoy, and try to find a scotch that fits in that flavour profile.

  5. Come talk to us at the store!

We have a great selection of scotches for every price range - we'll help you pick a scotch that will be opened and enjoyed!

Great news!

There are representatives from Bruichladdich, Bowmore, and Glenfarclas coming to our main store this weekend - come try a few different scotches!

We are expecting a huge shipment of Bruichladdich for this weekend - they have a great selection of scotches that will be fantastic for Father's Day.
