Champy lays claim to being the oldest négociant house in Burgundy. The business finally foundered in the late 20th century, Jadot buying the vineyards in 1989 while Henri and Pierre Meurgey took over the business and the buildings the following year. The wines are made on the road out to Pommard before returning to central Beaune for maturation.

Wine Profile

tasting notes

A more elegant if not necessarily more complex nose blends together hints of earth, spice, underbrush, game and ripe but cool wild red berry fruit. There is good volume and mid-palate concentration to the full-bodied and brooding flavors that are shaped by very firm but ripe tannins and outstanding length. This should be excellent in time but note that patience will definitely be required.
