Bordeaux Futures
Our 2018 Bordeaux Offer
Willow Park Wines & Spirits is excited to offer the chance to pre-purchase the 2018 vintage through our Bordeaux Futures program. Wine futures prices are lower than when the wine arrives instore in 2021. Some wines are produced in such minute quantities, they often sell out in the futures offering.
About 2018...
Early heavy rains brought mildew and great apprehensions for Bordeaux winemakers hoping for a big harvest after the cataclysmic frost of the 2017 vintage. The skies parted and Bordeaux experienced its second hottest summer since 2003, along with perfect dry autumn harvest weather. While the grape growing season was challenging, this ideal weather late in the season brought high hopes for quality. Most vineyards produced good yields with some biodynamic practitioners like Pontet Canet, Palmer and Dufort Vivens suffered low yields but did a brilliant job with the remaining juice. 2018 is a vintage where all black grapes varieties excelled, leading to wine with great tannin and body as reflected in the high scores throughout the region.
Cheers, Peter Smolarz, Director of Fine Wines & Purchasing
No Minimum Order required. Product arrival is expected Fall of 2021
