The level 1 in WSET will introduce students at an entry level qualification a straight forward introduction to wine. This will enable students to meet workplace wine service standards and deal with basic customer inquiries. This highly interactive program introduces the student to many different aspects of the wine world including wine types & styles, wine tasting, major grape varieties and food & wine matching.
This course will take place over two days:
Sunday January 14, 10- 5pm
Monday January 15th, 6 - 9:30pm (exam will be written this evening)
• The main styles of wine
• The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine
• The characteristics of the common grape varieties used to produce wine
• Service of wine
• Health, safety and legal issues
• The pairing of food and wine

What you'll learn:
-How wine is made
-What factors influence wine style
-The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics
-The important wine-producing regions of the world in which these grapes are grown
-The production of sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines
-Food and wine pairing principles
-The principal categories of spirits and liqueurs, and how they are made
This qualification is assessed by a mulitple choise paper of 50 questions.
